CREW Training Weekend 21 & 22 September 2013
Please could you forward the following ‘advert’ out to the Greyton Conservation Society J Please also forward our newsletter on, so that people can subscribe to it if they would like.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR SOME TIME IN THE FIELD, where we will be looking at veld on the Greyton commonage and surrounds and training anyone who is interested in i) how to use I-Spot and ii) becoming a CREW volunteer. The following is the schedule for the 21st and 22nd September (next weekend!):
SATURDAY 21st: Meet at the Post House at 10h00 and travel to various commonage sites to look for rare and threatened plants. Tony Rebelo will be training us on the use of I-Spot – an online, interactive tool for identifying your photographs of wildlife (plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, etc.) (www.ispot.org.za).
SUNDAY 22nd: Meet at the Post House at 10h00. This will be a CREW volunteer training day and anyone is welcome to join. Details to be confirmed, but it is likely that we will visit Michael Swart’s farm for this day and Ismail Ebrahim from CREW will be leading the group and teaching us how we can contribute to collecting data on rare and threatened plants.
Please bring lunch and cool drinks / water for in the field, as well as notebooks, pens / pencils and if you like, your field guides.
This is a very exciting and rewarding way to make a real contribution to conservation, no matter how much you currently know about identifying plants – please join us!
Please confirm your attendance on these trips with Odette (firstname.lastname@example.org or 083 551 3341) before Friday.
Best wishes and hope to see you there
Dr Odette Curtis (Director, Overberg Lowlands Conservation Trust)
